Vacation Report
What happens to a morning person when they go west? My body thinks it's 9am, even though it's still dark and my clock says 4:13. So I'm AWAKE, and here's the report.
*this* time, it really was a vacation. Flying Icelandic was totally the way to go. Lines at the airport? what lines? Food on the plane? even Alice ate it! OK. So it was still a not-big-enough-for-my-shoulders-let-alone-my-hips seat, but, hey, we got there with a minimum amount of fuss.
The weather Gods positively smiled upon us, Aberdeen and the surrounding countryside was warm, sunny and full of daffodils. And thanks to![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
luna_the_cat for an awesome day out. I promise to come visit you again before it adds up to another 10 years. When it comes right down to it, I am amazed that we get along so well still after all these years.
Our next stop was Durham, by way of Edinburgh. We found the cheese shop and came home with an exquisite Organic Garlic Cheddar and some even stinkier cheese ofchocorua's choosing. Durham was picturesque. It was very good to see weegoddess, and her tour of the cathedral, including the Harry Potter bits was extraordinary. I even climbed all the stairs to the top of the top tower, some 325 steps covering over 200 vertical feet. I really haven't the foggiest idea why I must challenge the notion that I am not afraid of heights at every opportunity. I like being up high, but some highs are scarier than others...
Then we were off to Haworth, mostly known at the home of the Brontes, but whichchocorua sought out because he could go work on the railway. His post has more details on that. The town itself is very pretty and when I get around to looking at the photos, there may be another post.
After 3 nights in Haworth, we got on yet another train and by way of the oh-my-look-at-the-that (another sheep, horse, farm, cow, etc..) Settle and Carslile line, made our way to Glasgow. Yup, it's a city. Blah. But even the buses ran on time. Which is how we got the the airport so early, and had to do a lot of waiting around, since again, there were no lines.
All in all, it was a relaxing trip, but traveling mostly just brings out a further appreciation of being back home again.
