On being a parent of a teen

::phone ringing::
"hello"
"mom, where are you right now?"
"Just finishing up riding"
"I forget my memory stick, it's in the pocket of the sweatshirt you washed this morning"
"when do you need it"
"um,...."
"I see, give me 1/2 hour"

This is the third time this thumb drive has gone through the wash.... But only the second time I've been called to bring it up to school.

you know you live in the styx when....

the only things moving on the road are snowmobiles. The town plow truck has been by a few times and re-loaded sand. I don't think I've seen anything else go by in a couple of hours.

The National Weather Service is lifting the winter weather advisory for my area (Southern NH) as of 10pm, so it looks like for here it's over except for the cleanup.
