Danforth, Maine.
I am on vacation. Yep, me, on vacation. Really. Left Thursday, picked up dajt and drove to his camp on East Grand Lake in Danforth , Maine. On the way I made a stop at llbean and bought some new (smaller) clothes. North of Bangor, we encountered a series of thunderstorms, which came in very quickly. It was sunny, then there was a splatter on the windshield, and then the next minute the visibility was to the end of the hood and no further. We got to the camp well after dark and were greeted by
dajt's dad who chatted a bit and then went home.
Friday morning we got up, ate breakfast and went back to sleep. Around lunchtime we headed into town to get groceries, and I was shown around the little town. We didn't do much else except watch the thunderstorms come through and toss the lake around and take the electricity out for a few hours. Oh, I think we went in the lake a little bit after lunch, before the storms.
Today started with a splash in the lake for me, before anyone else got up, then I cooked breakfast fordajt and his dad, who had stayed out at the camp with us. After breakfast had settled, D got in the kayak, and followed as I swam out to Greenland Island, about 1000' out into the lake from the camp beach. We then paddled around the island and back to camp. We had more hanging out, talking, reading until lunch, after witch D and I went for a 5 mile walk. We would have gone further but the deer flies and mosquitoes found us. D's dad was still at the camp when we got back, so after a short rest, we paddled the kayak back out to the island and walked around there a little. Then I swam back to shore, with D paddling nearby to warn off the predatory motorized personal water craft that seem to think they own the lake. Now we are relaxing in relative peace. One more day of vacation, then I will come home again.
