Why my chainsaw is still in the shop after 2 weeks

Or why you can't get any lower than Lowes.

I love my old beat up, well used Husqvarna chainsaw. It needed a tune-up, and filter cleaning, so I took it to the place that sold it to me, my John Deer dealer, about two weeks ago.  I hadn't heard form them, so I stopped in there this morning. They are having trouble locating parts. They don't sell Husqvarna chainsaws anymore because no was buying them, thinking that the more expensive saw from the small local guy was the same saw they could buy for cheap at Lowes and Home Depot. (If you open them up they are not the same saws, but no one believes that until they break, and even then, sometimes they fail to understand.)  It turns out that the place my dealer had been getting parts from has gone out of business, because they couldn't compete with Lowes and Home Depot either.

Do us all a favor, please. Support your small local businesses. Before the only choice is cheap plastic crap.

I got my Husqvarna lawn tractor from a local dealer. Lowes sells Husqvarna tractors but like you said, they're consumer grade tractors.

And Gravelys. Gravelys kept running with parts hand-cast and machined to exacting tolerances by garage hobbyists with care in their work...

yes, but does Gravely make a chainsaw equivalent? I think not.

You've seen the rotary buzz-saw blade I have; it can do just as much damage as a chain saw...

a lot more damage, but all below the knee, I can't cut a shoulder-high limb off a tree with it, or fell any tree greater than about a foot in diameter.
