on paying attention

Sometime yesterday afternoon we ran out of oil. It was still cozy warm downstairs because I had been running a woodstove all morning, but when I went up to bed it was just slightly colder than is should have been upstairs. So I checked and sure enough, oil tank empty. So I had to stay up an hour longer to get the furnace lit to wood. But really, so not a crisis.

This is why you're lucky to have a swappable system. I HATED having an oil fueled system because invariably every couple years at some point we'd run out and then have to wait for a refuel truck and I really do NOT cope with being cold.

If I recall, a year or two back, you were commenting about the fact that you were getting an oil refill, and it had been something like multiple years since you last had a refill. Was it significantly shorter this time?

that was 2 or 3 years ago. I haven't been home enough to run wood full time, so we've used a few tanks since then.
