What the Fair Point tech found...

"The load coil is an inductive device that acts as a high-frequency choke and must be removed if the line is converted to high-speed digital use." (somewhere on the web)

Even though Verizon had claimed to have removed all of these... they were not. The tech found the one we were going through and removed it. Much faster net now.

When I was still using Comcast, I had a similar problem. An over eager technician driving through my neighborhood and noticed that the connection at my telephone pole didn't have a filter, so he installed one. Someone else had to come to my house and remove the filter from the pole.
