working family heirloom

This Early 1920's Singer was one of the earliest ones manufactured as electric machines. My maternal great-grandmother used this machine to make her way in "the new world" after she was sent by her family from Vienna, Austria as WW1 was approaching. She was 14. The theory was that she would go back, but she never did. I believe she had sisters, and they did go back, but Marie stayed, made her living as a seamstress and married.

I always liked that old Singer. Take care of it...

We also have an old Singer; it was used by my wife's aunt (or great aunt, I can't remember) who was a seamstress. One tough machine, methinks...
