I can't help shaking my head at the prices horses like this are going for, but then I think about the training that must have gone into this horse and I can sort of understand. On the other hand, I can't imagine paying that much for even the most wonderful horse- I've got a mortgage and retirement to worry about first.
It's unfortunate that riding and especially owning horses has become so expensive. In the long run I fear that this will lead to a feedback loop where the sport becomes ever more expensive, ultimately shutting off the flow of new participants.
