I started the day with the usual morning chores, breakfast, etc. Took a bunch of stuff to Kinney Hill in preparation for moving Trump to the shed upon Shippy's arrival tomorrow afternoon.

Riding Skippy: This was our first ride together just us. I have some work to do. He wasn't bad, but I need to learn his buttons. There was some awkwardness.

Once home, UPS had delivered the pump motor. Upon unboxing, I discovered a couple of potential problems: the pump housing was slightly different and lacking the screw holes for mounting the rectifier and the shaft was too long. The shaft I cut down to the right length with a hacksaw. I took the old rectifier mounting box and screwed it to the board the the motor and pump are mounted on. Then I screwed the motor on the board without attaching the pump and did an electrical and directional test. All OK (or so I thought). It then took me two tries with the damn fiddly long Allen screws to get the motor snugged to the pump via the coupling. Then I powered it up. And it did turn. But it did not draw any water. So I swapped the wires to the pump on the rectifier and tried again. Now we have water. It took a while to pump up the system. But I had a really nice shower! It all took much longer than I thought it would, it was not nearly as straight forward as I had hoped. There were a lot of calls to Chocorua at work to verify that I was doing the right thing. But all in all, and despite the frustration, I am satisfied and feeling accomplished.

It was good to see folk at Diesel, even though the turnout was light tonight. I am taking a tranquilizer of ameratto in hot cocoa.
