We killed 22 stupid white birds. I don't know how there were 22 birds in that pen, but there were. They are so much easier to count when they are dead. But I have 18 in my freezer ranging in weight from 2.9 lb to 4.2lb for sale. I have one in my fridge.
tamidon and her youngest both worked hard and earned a chicken each. The last was one that had an infection rendering it uneatable. I am pretty sure this is the best final yield we've ever gotten for a 25 bird order of stupid white birds.
Some of the factors which contributed to the overall success: Shipping at a not too hot/not to cold time of year (early Sept). Through bad inventory management, I didn't always have the 'right' food for them and the got a lot less protein at the beginning and at other times periodically than 'the book' says they should get. They also were allowed to get hungry between feeder refills sometimes. Better brooder temperature regulation. And maybe I was just lucky.
And yes, I have chicken for sale. $5/lb.
