I Want...

...a back harness to carry my axe.

(so I can jog through the woods carrying it and still have my hands free)

So you carry this axe out to the middle of nowhere with hands free. At this point you proceed to make smaller objects out of larger objects. Do you just leave the smaller objects where they are or do you now feel obligated to bring them out to the edge of nowhere (and how do you go about this task)?

mostly the axe is for trail maintenance - just getting dead/fallen trees, branches off the trail and to one side. I don't usually take anything out of the woods unless I am specifically going if for something like a yule tree or a section for a new staff.

That'd be oddly hot...

you know what i saw last week?

a motorcycle with a surveyor's axe on it :)

moo hah hah.

i may arrive with my axe on the motorcycle somehow. a backstrap would be teh awesome. 70mph down the highway with an axe (and khukri) of DOOOM. what i really need is hard luggage (soon).

Find someone in the SCA who makes leather goods.

I've seen sheaths for carrying large swords on your back. They have a pouch at the bottom to hold the point of the sword, and a strap with a snap at the top to keep it in. If you enlarge the pouch at the bottom, it probably would work for an ax.

Try these folks on the North Shore. They probably could make something for you. They used to vend at Arisia.

They have this, but it probably isn't what you're looking for:

And this is probably not what you want:

Actually that Backstrap could easily be modified to be Just The Right Thing. Thanks for the link!
