Wow, is that the going rate even out there? I'm never ever ever ever ever going to stop renting from my university. We pay almost half that for the same number of bedrooms. (Granted, not 6 baths. *Man* that's a lot of baths! I don't think we'd need that many...) In our house, both apartments put together (8 bedrooms, 5 baths) go for just over that.

Real estate will never cease to confuse me.

J left out the part where this is basically a mansion, with a huge gourmet kitchen and beautiful grounds.

What MRW said. There's about 14,000 sq. feet of total floor area, but they discount the basement and the area under the eaves, so the taxable square footage is something like 9,000. Pool table, two working fireplaces, 2 half- and one whole bathroom aside from those associated with the bedrooms. And it's on a hilltop with miles of (taxable) view and 115 acres of my property around it, with about 3 sq. miles of woods and fields off to the N and NW.

The house also has an indoor pool and a hot tub, but neither works right now. While we don't mind if tenants want to fix/use them, we are tired of being the "pool guys" and so we aren't advertising them.

Weren't there also a bunch of renovations last fall?

Hm. I could cover half that, and certainly could cover 1/3 of that. Just renewed here, though. Hm.
Out of curiousity, how bad are utility bills for it?
