2. I read 2/3 of a trilogy recently. I'll be picking up the 3rd during the previously mentioned shopping expedition. Steig Larsson wrote The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The girl who Played with Fire, and the Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Then he died. Which I find unfortunate because his stories are very well written and extremely imaginative. I'll try not to put in any spoilers, but here's a cut just in case. Start out with a seriously gifted hacker with Asberger's add one Truth and Justice for All journalist who Won't Quit add a good mix of suspected murder and financial intrigue and you get a book I couldn't put down. The books have good strong female characters, sane polyamoury, and some very criminal BDSM. Yes it's "popular fiction." But it is popular fiction that puts a very sane spin on poly, and shows both sane aspects of BDSM and how very wrong it can go. Thankfully, in the end (at least the end for some characters) the bad guys get caught in their own nets and go down in flames.
