And then there were 4.... a laying hen got taken today, sometime between 8:30 am and noon. The cheek of it, in broad daylight. All I found were a few feathers.

Any chance you can put Pedro to use, maybe staking him out (figuratively or literally), near the birds?
Barring that... perhaps something can be rigged with a motion sensor and a light, perhaps also a video baby monitor?
