F**k me harder

sitting at my desk this morning, heard the water pump go on, check for drippy faucets, etc. Nothing. Wait 20 min. Water pump runs again. Go down cellar. No puddles of water (good) but lots of air hiss noise right at pump (BAD). Turned off pump. Made phone calls. No answers. will do morning critter chores then retire to cellar until pump is working right.

argh. hope you have water soon. Is the barn water still running? (Hot showers at our house are always available.)

oh we have water... and it seems to even be working fine now.... James think one of the check valves might be going. It was leaking back to the well this morning...

If it's hissing at a joint, redoing the joint a bit of Teflon tape on the threads might fix the problem.

you assume much about these joints... plastic pipe held over pump inlet and outlet with tube clamps. And lots of corrosion. But staring at it and flipping the switch a few times seems to have cured it for now.
