update to more computer weirdness
Aug. 23rd, 2012 08:14 amThis post is especially for
perspicuity,
whitebird, and
deguspice. And also
chocorua if you're listening and have any suggestions.
I tested all of my other banking like websites - the other bank that I have to access, paypal, credit cards, etc. All of them worked. My problem is specifically with the Instustion for Savings in Newburyport.
Here are the details of how I did my migration: I did NOT use the mac migration assistant.
It occurs to me that the one thing I haven't done since set-up is a reboot of new machine. Going to do a backup, and then reboot now.
UPDATE: robooting did not magically make this work.

- All of my applications, with the exception of some games, were installed fresh from disks or new downloads.
- Chrome was able to grab my links and settings through the web for itself. (thank google, it's easy, but I'm not sure I like that you know that much about me)
- I used file sharing between the two computers via an ethernet cable to do drag and drop transfer of all my data files.
- Thunderbird was the biggest problem, as it's user information was in a hidden directory - once I unhid the directory, I was able to get all my email, settings, etc, to transfer by carefully putting the old in the correct place on the new.
