I put on SPF45 no-ad before I got on the tractor. in 2.25 hrs the previously white legs were like a lobster. WTF? The places already brown are fine.

Ow, very sorry to hear that! It sounds like the No-ad doesn't stand up to sweat... very few sunscreens really do.

Aloe aloe aloe, but you know that already :)

Of course, I burned on my arms on Monday just by working in the garden for 30 minutes.

Oh! That Really Burns!

Perhaps your SPF45 was old?

I picked up a driver's upper-left-arm sunburn last week, which surprised me. Maybe more UV is getting through.

Doing a little bit of reading on the topic, it looks like you need to make sure that the sunscreen will protect against both UV-A and UV-B.

The No-AD ones I saw online all covered both UV-A and UV-B, though. Wonder if the critical ingredients sweat off differently for UV-A and UV-B...

age is a biggy, and sweatproof. I'm using the spray from Neutragena that I got from Costco. Doesn't stink, make me itchy from being too heavy, leave blank spots or stuf like that

SPF is a measure of how much longer *you* can stay in the sun without roasting, not an absolute number. because of the time of year i would say 11am-2pm means "halve the SPF, then do the calculation of how long you can stay out.

Might just be that that brand is lame and/or overstating its benefits, as well.

Different position, different sun exposure?

i.e. if you've gotten all your sun so far from, say, horse riding, doing something else lets sun get at new places. *that's* a big part of how I got burnt on my beach trip.

Also, is the tractor perhaps nice and bright and shiny in the UV wavelengths?
