That truck I bought in 2007? I hated it. It did all the jobs, but it had a blind spot the size of Texas, and I never could get the seat, pedals, and steering wheel configured to be comfortable. So today I traded it in for this:

I know what you can do to break in that shiny new truckie! You can bring a truckload of firewood to Medford! (giggle)...

happy new truck, and heppy aid to the Detroit Big-Vehicle-manufacturers. You've done your part to help the economy.

Congrats on the new truck.

Behind the new truck, is there a new shed? (chicken coop?)

Looks to me like a freshly painted maple syrup smokehouse?

At least you're a farmer and NEED a big truck!

Why did it have to be white?

When we went looking for a new truck, my only color request was anything but white.

Congrats on the new ride!

because white collects the least amount of heat when left in the sun. because white is the color most visible by other drivers.

depends on the kind of white - some get really hot because they are not "true white". actually, i seem to recall a study being done on textiles and their conclusion was "doesn't matter as much as you'd think", a mirror should be better. i'm going to go google this again, i'm curious.

"safety yellow" is pretty damn visible. "be seen in the dark by the blind"... yet people still hit them. go figure. being bigger helps :)

nice truck though :)

need more data! still, these too links are promising, one specifically on cars, and for value add, one on barns/farm applications :>

How much hotter is a black car than a white car in the sun?
summary: interiors: not much diff, actual external surfaces? lots.

ah, a good google:

#

apparently there is a paint, that regardless of color, minimizing the temperature issues through the use of science! sweeeet. probably expensive though.

Awesome! That truck *did* have a huge blind spot. And I agree about the steering wheel. A lot of the reason behind my speeding ticket in Amesbury was that when I was driving that truck I couldn't see the speedometer. Which makes it a little difficult to calibrate. And to *see* the speedometer I had to hunch down low enough that I couldn't really see the road. Mistakes were made.

I may soon echo the firewood comment, btw, new housemates are deeply interested in getting our fireplace up to code if it can be done for less than bankbreaking amounts.
