Since Monday afternoon I have had a fairly intense fever. The highest I tested it at was 100F, but I figure it went higher when I wasn't in the mood or brainspace to actually test it. Yesterday I betook myself to the Dr. He looked at the rash from the tick bite, asked me about symptoms, and said "you have Lyme, I'm going to treat you anyway, so we won't bother with testing."  The tests for Lyme are notoriously inaccurate, only 65% correct at best, so in a case as clear as mine, it doesn't seem necessary. I didn't actually see my PCP, but one of her associates, a soft-spoken and less-intervention-is-better fellow. He did send me with an Rx for 3 weeks of doxycycline, which is exactly what I expected. When asked, he said that I'd likely see relief from the fever and aches in 48 hours. He stressed that I should most certainly call if other symptoms appear.
After 2 doses of Doxy yesterday, and a whole lot of ibuprofen (800 mg, every 5 hrs or so) I tried to sleep. I tossed and turned, sweated and chilled, covered and uncovered....  Around about midnight, the character of the fever changed. I did not know, up until that point, that fevers had 'character'. It's possible that my head felt clearer than it has since Monday. At the time, I thought the fever was gone, or going, but not so. I'm sitting here pretty much dripping sweat in a cool room. I did manage to sleep through what could have been a 2am dose of ibuprofen, but was woken around 5 with the chills again. I debated taking a lower dose, but decided that I wouldn't have time to fix it if I wasn't functional at 8:30 when it comes time to take J to his train.

What I plan to do, tomorrow, is go up to the herbalist's shop and add her course of treatment to complement the doxy. I have had better success treating the horses with the herbal treatments included in the regimen, so I will not neglect that with myself.

Wagh!

That sounds pretty terrible. I'm glad you're on the healing side of the curve.
