It snowed like this when I was a teenager, in 1978 (we were north of Boston with horses in the back yard), and I had a series of dreams about the snow melting and taking the rest of the landscape away with it, leaving the trees and rocks hanging in mid air... it were beautiful but eerie.
Minnesota is like that every winter. There's an amazing transformation of the landscape twice a year, and over the summer you forget what winter was like.
That's true even down here in the Suburbs of Despair. I hear rumors I have a vegetable garden under the contours in the snow, and a surface other than ice in the driveway. I'll try to remember January come July.
BTW, thanks for the party last weekend, it's a nice tradition for us, though I don't know when we started coming or how often we've made it.
