My Pentax istD is having problems - I push down the shutter button and it doesn't take the picture. Except that sometimes it does. Yes, the batteries are fresh and the camera is turned on. I've taken several thousand photos with this camera, many of them in les than perfect weather conditions, so I'm not all that surprised that it's decided to have a failure, but I like it and want to keep using it.

Does anyone know of a good camera shop that does repairs on Digital Pentax in the Boston/north area?

I took my Pentax SLR (non-digital) to Sanford Camera on Mass Ave in Arlington. I was not unhappy with their service. But it was non-digital, I don't know what their experience is with DSLR's. They don't mention Pentax on their web site, but they did fix mine.

Actually, my Pentax DSLR sometimes does that too. Have you changed any settings recently. Sometimes if I change a setting for a special shot (night shot) then forget to switch things back, taking a regular picture (in daylight) doesn't work.

how old?

contact pentax themselves. either they'll take care of it, or refer you to someone THEY trust (or use).

i know many a person who have had older Canons fixed, in some cases completely free.

There used to be a place beside Bromfield Camera on Bromfield St near Downtown Crossing in Boston. Don't know if they are still in business. Haven't been there in a few years.
