more new computer weirdness

So I went to log into internet banking. And couldn't. Works just fine on old machine. New macine running same versions of Firefox, Chrome and Safari with all the same settings (I checked) - would not work on any browser. Bank tech support is mystified. Work-around - mobile banking on ipad. oh joy, but it works, and itsn't the old mac.
So yea, the reason for the new mac is that the old one is having boot failures. When shut down, it takes 3-4 frobbings of the power switch to reboot. No, it's not the hard drive. Genius bar has no ideas. It suspends and wake up just fine. So I haven't done a shut down in 2 weeks. I'm worried that when I do, it just won't start again.
ok, back to testing new machine for full functionality.

Date: 2012-08-23 04:54 am (UTC)i get this a lot in my job. we have potentially 10,000 different screens, with millions of points of data and we get "does not work".
please to define. won't connect? doesn't display correctly? 404?
can you hit other websites? do THEY work (by which i'm asking, internet is on?)
the fact it works with ipad suggests it does work with safari, just not your computer.
one suggestion: reset the proxies.
