I competed at Huntington Farm in S. Strafford Vt yesterday, where, no, it was not much cooler than here. Because of flooding, they had to cancel the Stadium Jumping phase, which felt odd, for a 2-phase but Dressage and cross country are the things I need more practice on, so it was really ideal. Our dressage test was good, for me and Skippy. They are getting more consistent, but he still isn't getting top scores because he needs to get more relaxed to allow more swing through his back. Our 34.5 penalty points was good for 11th out of 16 in our highly competitive division. Then we went out and made easy work of the cross country course. It took a couple of jumps to really get rolling and together, but he didn't hesitate anywhere except for right before the water, and my riding stayed strong through the whole thing. All of the jumps felt small, and the technical questions came easy. I saw parts of the Preliminary course while walking my Training course, and I kept thinking "oh, I want to do that one instead." Which really bodes well for my planned move up at the end of September. Our clean cross country round moved us up to 6th. Only about 1/2 the riders in my division made the time.
